about the artist

Hans (Krause) Thorner

* 1918 , Thorn - † 2002 , Emmendingen

Hans Krause escaped a prisoner transport of the Russian secret service at the end of the war. He therefore changed his name to Thorner (he was born in Thorn). In 1951 he left Germany and went with his family to Ibiza until 1959. Until 1962 he lived and worked in Mönchengladbach, where he participated in an exhibition by Karl Heinemann, among others together with Markus Lüpertz. From 1962 to the end of the 80s he was production manager and actor in the "cinema città" in Rome. As a writer of crime novels, he lived in Germany again, and rarely showed his artistic work - sculptures, paintings and drawings - in exhibitions
